Kitchen Renovation
We just completed a kitchen renovation on a Dutch late 18th Century house in New Jersey. With the help of Ken Fox of Fox Architecture Design, he designed steel beams to reinforce the structure of the house. Aside from providing the support, they added an attractive design aspect in this old home. Here are some of the things we also did to update and bring this kitchen to life: • Floors were sanded and refinished with provincial stain with a satin finish. • Beams were exposed, sanded down and stained with Zar, oil leather stain, finished with matte clear coat. Steel beams were installed for support. • Part of the exterior wall is now exposed adding character to the area. • La Courne 43” wide French door oven in Provence Blue was installed. The oven brings in some color and is one of the key features of the kitchen. • The extra-large cast iron farm since, by Kohler, has exposed front legs and plumbing with polished nickel finish to match the Fawcett reflecting the humble beginnings of the home. • The blue and white tile installed was hand painted and imported from a 400 year old Dutch company.
